Sheri,
    As a professional counselor, we generally define "ethics" as "compliance 
with the unenforceable". The law was created to prevent unscrupulous agents 
and studio executive from taking advantage of those who create their wealth, 
so I am happy the laws exist and happy to pay the royalties due to those 
whose music I use!
