Agreed. In Latin, as well as in many other Romance languages, the vowels are
what makes the tone of a piece. I have even had directors who have had us
take away consonants in certain places so the vowels could be emphasized.

Don't put your tongue up there tight. Others have given you good
suggestions. I hope you can master it. My choir directors never worried
about it; they were more concerned with the proper pronunciation of the
vowels.
