Kelsey,

You should be able to raise your music stand to a comfortable height, 
enabling you to stand up straight and rest your hands comfortably on 
your music. You should also be able to flatten the desk to make it 
easy for you to deal with it. I usually have mine slightly tilted so 
that the bottom edge of the music rests on the lip.
