It is true, a voice teacher might not take you seriously if you are to only
study once a month.
I would, keep this in mind, when you pose this question to whoever you are
going to study with.
This, whether or not it's appropriate, is not something that anyone here on
this list can truly answer; as the level of and/or degree of whether or not
it's appropriate, is up to the individual voice teacher.
I personally would not take you seriously; despite the fact that I
understand that finances are a concern.
but, if finances are a concern, voice lessons aren't a good fit for you at
this time unless you are able to commit to the financial and time
responsibilities involved.
Voice lessons IMO as an adult are not for the hobbiest, but for the folks
who are serious and want to learn and study and who are working towards an
end goal.
You would want to figure out what that end goal is; and have some direction
and purpose as well.
also, the reason for weekly lessons is that your teacher can track your
progress; and you can remain accountable and disciplined and practice. This
is difficult to do if you're only studying once a month.
but again, I say it's a bad idea, but if you can find a teacher who is
willing, have at it. that's on them.

Subject: [musictlk] voice lessons
Hello,
I am considering starting voice lessons again once things with my
family settle down a bit. However, since I don't have a job, it
is going to be very difficult for me to pay for a weekly lesson.
Therefore, I am considering taking lessons once a month for a
little while until I am able to pay for weekly lessons. Is this
arrangement appropriate given my current situation or should I
make an effort to take more consistent lessons? I would not do
this arrangement permanently, just until I am able to pay for
lessons once a week. My thought is that at least I would have a
lesson once a month as opposed to no lesson at all to help me
improve my range.
I look forward to everyone's opinions on this.
Thank you,
Kelsey Nicolay
