Madrigals are classical pieces, usually a capella, which are sung by choirs or vocal ensembles. Many madrigals—or "mads," as those of us who are in madrigal choirs often call them—are in Latin, though there are still pieces written in this style today with lyrics in many languages. A Web site like Wikipedia or someone else on this list may be able to provide a more detailed explanation.
