 Did not catch all of this thread. 
Are you looking for an accessable tuner for your guitar? 
 I have not used one but I did hear some time back that Boss did make one
that I heard was pretty accessable for the blind maybe someone here
remembers that or you could check with Boss and see what they can offer you.

I kind of wonder how accurate those phone-based tuners really are. After
all, you're trying to tune it using a microphone. Suppose you're in a stage
setup. Wouldn't background noise get in the way?

found I needed to play the note rather loudly. It works fine to check if my
flute is playing a note in tune.
