A DAW is a digital workstation. I can't quite describe it off
the top of my head, but it sounds just like what you might need.

Thanks. I have used Sonar in the past visually. I am glad it
works with
Jaws.
What do Reaper and samplitude do? And what did you mean by "a
daw"?

Hi. actually, I'm using sonar 8.53 producer edition with jaws 18
and windows
ten 64 bit. It works fine with the last version of the free
Jsonar scripts.
The only issue is that a lot of hsc sets don't work under windows
ten
because they weren't updated. You can also use reaper or magics
sampletude 2
or 3 for a daw. There are script packages for both.

Cameron.

Hello Charlie, If you can get a copy of Sonar, version 8.5, that
works
with Jaws, assuming you are using Windows 7 or earlier. You
will also
need an external soundcard for Sonar to function well. If you
are
using Midi sequencing, you will need a midi keyboard/controller.

 Very best wishes,
 Sandra.

I can't give any recommendations, but MIDI isn't necessarily the
only
 way to go.

 Hi

I was mostly referring to recording and sequencing. Is MIDI
still
the way to go? If so, which software could be used well with a
screen
 reader?

Welcome Charlie. Nice to meet you.
Not everyone uses JAWS. Some use NVDA, some use Window-Eyes,
and
some use other screen readers. Are you planning to write your
compositions in braille music notes, do you just want to record
music, or do you want something along the lines of a MIDI
sequencer
 or similar?

 Hi,

My name is Charlie and I have just joined this list. I am a
starting amateur musician and blind of course. My instrument is
keyboards. I have RP and my vision loss was progressive. I am
 learning Braille by correspondence.
I would like to know what software I can use for music
composition.
Does Everyone use Jaws? if so, the software would need to work
well with
Jaws.

 Thanks
 Charlie
