[MusicTlk] Komplete : Keyboards Native Instruments

Hey Jordan,

One midi keyboard that I’ve recently purchased and have been a fan is M-audio’s Hammer 88. As the name implies, all 88 keys are fully weighted, and from the smell of it when I first got the keyboard, it also appears to be fully made out of wood. I’m very particular about 1: that I have decent range of octave since I’m a native piano player and 2: that they are weighted. If your desire is to play it as a standalone keyboard without midi input I believe there is an accent module where you are able to directly plug in the keyboard from the USB connector to the box, and the module box to the quarter inch amplifier/speaker systems or headphones. Downside is that they lack any sort of programable buttons or faders, instead these are just a plain simple keyboard with minimal controls, pitch bend and modulation wheels on the far left side, two octave buttons up/down, and a single fader. It would have been nice if M-audio would have included more buttons along the top and additional faders. The keyboard though I used at school during marching band was Roland RD-600 keyboard, probably long gone and discontinued by now but that synth was truly a joy to play. Studio Logic might have their SL-88 keyboard, fully weighted and believe has more controls, so that’s what I’m looking at next.

Hope this helps!
Seyoon,
