[MusicTlk] Calluses and Braille

Hello Brian: I can't speak to bass specifically but I play fingerstyle
steel string guitar. I have been playing for many years but don't have
any trouble reading braille. Admittedly, I don't tend to read with my
left hand which does have heavy calluses but even then I can read it
but slowly. I use my right hand for fingering with nails and the tips
or pads of my fingers but have no problem reading braille. I typically
play three to fours at a time when I am playing however.

I've heard other folks say they won't play because of the callus situation but frankly have never experienced it myself.

The thing is I wasn’t reading braille before and I’m finding the calluses are reducing my sensitivity. I’m sure others have faced this problem. Any suggestions?
