Dear Brian and Everyone Else Who Is Concerned,

I have been playing guitar for 45 years and am a pretty prolific gigger. You will have no issue reading Braille as the result of your guitar playing. The callouses form on the tips of your fingers and we read Braille with the pads. You would need to have a very strange technique for guitar playing to interfere with your Braille. Happy picking and happy reading!

Peace!
Marion

Subject: [MusicTlk] Calluses and Braille

 Hello,
I’m learning to read braille as an adult and also started playing my bass guitar again after being away from it for many years so the calluses I had went away and coming back now. The thing is I wasn’t reading braille before and I’m finding the calluses are reducing my sensitivity. I’m sure others have faced this problem. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Brian
