[nabentre] Started a Chocolate Business

Bob,

You've sparked what could be a very good project for this list. I think all
of us could benefit from concise definitions and more complete explanations
of affiliated marketing, franchising, distributorships, network marketing,
MLM marketing, traditional business models, and yes, illegal pyramids. What
already exists in an accessible form on these subjects?

I ask this question knowing full well that coming up with an idea is the
best way to get drafted to work on it. I'm currently involved in several
time intensive projects here, so am guilty of proposing an idea and asking
someone else to do the research.

Though I am not willing to do massive research on this topic, I am willing
to write to NLS to ask for any bibliographies they've developed on business
and related topics. I know they have categories on "business and economics"
that make searching for relevant titles easier than formerly. Perhaps NLS
has also researched other sources and put together a more complete
bibliography. If so, perhaps we could find a way to help distribute it to
interested people. The more technically savvy among you can figure out a
Dropbox or something as simple as forwarding the bibliography to everyone
who joins the list. First, let me get something worth forwarding and
between us we can figure out how to share the info.

Opinions can be valuable. Their value is increased if they're coupled with
sufficient information to allow each of us to do our own research in order
to develop an informed opinion.

I'll let you all know whether we can access an existing bibliography or
whether we must develop our own. If the latter, we'll need to seek
volunteers.

As usual Bryan, you are being pejorative.

Before launching into another one of your usual diatribe expressing your
superfluous rhetoric, I recommend that you educate yourself relative to the
difference between affiliated marketing, franchising, distributorships,
network marketing, MLM marketing, traditional business models, and yes,
illegal pyramids.

For most of my life, Other than illegal pyramids, I have owned many of these
business models including an information consulting company, an employee
staffing company, real estate sales, a Montessori school, a car
sales/service business, and several network marketing companies.

Like you say Bryan, you know what an opinion is worth. However, there are
those that espouse their opinions without any requisite knowledge.

By the way, there is nothing wrong with out-sourcing. It is just another
way to insure profits.
