Hi everyone,

I hope everyone on this list will be there. We will meet on June 30, 2012
with registration starting at 6:30 p.m. and meeting beginning at 7:00 pm.
Our meeting room is Dardanelles Room, Atrium mezzanine at the Anatole Hotel
located at 2201 North Stemmons Freeway
Dallas, Texas 75207.

We have several items to cover at our meeting.

Mary Donahue and I have been busy getting our braille proofreading speeches
and handouts ready to present. Since we did not get any requests for braille
and print handouts, we are going to do something different this time.

Mary and I will read a sentence and tell you what we find. You the audience
will let us know what is the correct way to write the word in error.

There will be some sentences where you have to choose which sentence have
the correct format. Usually it is a multiple choice kind of thing.

When we find an error, we will spell it out noting the improper
contractions, punctuation or spacing.

You will not have to worry about marking anything at this time.

I will have the answer sheet with me since I am the only one with the
correct answers.

I have several people that will be speaking as well.

Several topics will be focused on braille transcription and braille
proofreading as a career.

Greg Kearney, Association for the Blind of Western Australia will talk about
library service in australia and how you can take advantage of it here in
the United States.

betty hersey Director of Reading Radio Resource located in Dallas, Texas
will talk about how to take advantage of their reading services and how to
access their library service online and listen to their radio station online
once you obtain a user ID and password.

They even have digital books you can download and listen to as well.

There will be a talk about a new magazine available online and Mark Marvel
from Newark, Delaware from Blind Ambitions Group will talk about that and
mention how you can submit materials to be published.

Mike Seville from Oregon will talk about his experience with a previous job
he had with ViewPlus Technologies. In addition he'll talk about his
experience as a braille proofreader while working at Clovernook back in
2006. He will also talk about the current job as Braille Print Technology
Manager with Clovernook and what it's like to telecommute.

I did a phone interview with Allison O'Day who is a braille proofreader for
Minnesota State Services. In addition she is one of the instructor teaching
the literary braille transcription course taken either by mail or by email.
We will see how well the recording can be heard through the sound system.

Jennifer Dunnam, Manager of the Braille Proofreading and Transcribing
Program for NFB, will talk about what's new and updates on BANA news, NBA
news, and anything else good to share in reference to braille.

Rhanda Hasley from Dallas, Texas will give an update on what is happening
concerning the hotel and the work she does. She will also talk about her
experience as a contract Braille Proofreader.

We will have a discussion of our web site and where things stand.

We will also have an election of officers.

All officers will be prepared to give their reports over the last year.

If anyone wants to pay dues, dues are $5.00 and should be given to Debbie
Brown, our treasurer.

Kevin Ledford is our secretary who will take names and addresses of everyone
who wishes to join.

At this time, this agenda that I have laid out for you is in no particular
order.

I will have an electronic copy of everything I have just posted regarding
who will be speaking.

If I get any request at the last minute, I will try to write them down.

Anyone who needs to talk with me during convention week can find me in the
Ohio delegation or call me on my cell phone at (513) 550-5155.

This will be a very busy week.

See everyone in Dallas, Texas.

Sincerely,

Lisa Hall, President

National Association of Blind Office Professionals, a Division of National
Federation of the Blind
