Allow me to just add to what Steve said by saying that if you have one
of these packages not only is it faster, but you'll most likely get
better OCR quality as well. This being because the image is
electronically transfered to the software performing the OCR instead of
it first being subject to the quality limitations of your printer, then
to the resolution of your scanner.
