[nabs-l] Governor Sacrifices the Blind for Short Term Politics

The governor doesn't make the call. He recommends closure, and his
budget reflects that closure. It'll be up to the Oregon legislature
to follow through with hearings on the matter.

Kulongoski has not backed off on that recommendation, and the
legislature has indicated that they will not remove the Commission
from the budget. If they did, it wouldn't be the first promise
they'd made and broken to the blind this session.

The thing is, I can name at least six different ways they could gut
the Commission between now and the end of the session, so I'm not
terribly optimistic given the track record thus far.
