[nabs-l] NFB Training Center Queary

Bernadetta,

The Daytona center is definitely making changes to become more like NFB
centers and I know that they have sent some of their staff to Louisiana for
training. For one thing, and I could be wrong, but I don't think the
Daytona center has apartments that students live in while in training. He
could argue that the task of managing his own apartment rather than a dorm
and preparing meals and what not would be a better fit for helping him to
make the transition from college to independent living in the real world.
Also, attending a center outside of Florida would limit the distractions he
would have being in his home state where it would be easy to go home on the
weekends and so on and sink back into old habits. I do know that the NFB
of Florida president, Cathy Davis, is currently attending the Louisiana
center as well. Hope that helps.
