[nabs-l] Thoughts?

Hello Nabsters,
Mary, I understand your point by posting this excerpt from the NABS Constitution. As the upcoming NABS elections are vastly approaching these lines may make running for a position a little difficult. I think that this line is very vague and unclear. Now-a-days, being a student also entails a lot more than just being physically in school. For instance, a student can be in between schools for a short period of time participating in an internship or co-op program, but she or he is still in pursuit of academic endeavors. Does this line mean that in order to be on the board you should be in school at the time of elections? Does it mean that if a student was to be a student for half of his or her tour as a NABS board member and graduates in the middle that they should step down after graduation? What is the constitutional definition of a "student"?

The light that you shine on the question of eligibility should definitely have more discussion on the list serve as this is an integral part of who we are as a division. What are your thoughts?
Sincerely,
Isaiah

Since the subject line of your message seems to imply a question of some kind, do you have any particular questions about this specific section of the constitution? I am simply asking because I am not quite sure what your purpose was for posting this to the list. Was it simply a reminder for those who may be seeking election this year, or did you have some questions about it?
