Hi List,
Let me first make absolutely clear that my response is not in any way
designed to back a particular person running for any office on any
board, however, it is simply for the sake of discussion/debate
for the sake of answering the question, board members have stepped
down mid-tern before, in fact, I believe this happends oftin enough
on state student division boards, and on the nabs board.
In nabs, we are inclusive of all who wish to be members, with
obvious interest twards students and those interested in becoming a
student. the constitution says however, that those who are on the
board must intend to be students for the year following their
election ( thismore oftin than not means that you plan to be a student
from the july you get elected, to the july the next meeting takes
place.
To me, if a person is going to be a student for the year after they
get elected, and wishes to run for an office, they should. I'm not so
sure about a person who does not plan to start out as a student,
while I am a little more receptive to the idea of someone who starts
as a student, and leaves mid-term. in the end it's about how each
person reads that constitution, and understands what it lays out for
us. Personally, I like the fact that each student who serves on the
board is supposed to be a student.
