[nabs-l] Macs Verses PCs

I would also say that it depends a lot on what you are used to and how much time you are willing to spend to learn a new system. Most things are quite easy to learn on the mac once you get the basics of how voiceover works. The most difficult part of switching for me was learning to do word processing on the mac, which is a huge part of what you will use in college. If you have learned to use a windows screen reader and microsoft word, making the switch to voiceover and one of the word processors on the mac will take some serious time to learn and adjust to.

I love my mac now and I am quite comfortable with word processing. It took a few months of frustration though for me to learn to do everything I was able to do with Jaws and word. I'm sure it would be the same if you were going to switch the other way.

So, if you are going to switch, allow yourself enough time to learn how to do the essential tasks you will need for college beforehand. Connect with people who can help you learn too.

Hope this helps.
