They examine it? How? Do they unfold it and look inside? When I flew, and I 
only went once after 911, they
simply x-rayed it.

Angela,
You make a good point about the cane. When I flew SouthWest down to
Florida last year, I took a folding cane, folded it, and stuck it in
my backpack which was under the seat. Sure airport security nowadays
is a pain, but you have to know that going into the thing. I can't
tell you the number of times my folding cane has been examined by
security guards. At this point, I just let them do their job. It's
easier than trying to have a big discussion in front of others.
