yea they want something from my therapist and my psychiatrist telling them
that I'm stable enough to work. She won't send it because not only am I
stable enough to work but whether or not I live in a residential facility
or live on my own is not relivant to whether or not I am able to do a job.
so she's not sending them anything. Anything what so ever.riginal

Hello Dave:

I believe just about everyone who has dealt with rehab has had some form of
disgruntled treatment or another.
For example, our chapter has a student who is also a mother of five (yes, 5)
sighted children ranging from toddler to teenager and she is going for a
degree in social work in that she wants to be able to work with children in
either daycares or nurseries.
Unfortunately, rehab asked her to get references from at least five or six
social work related agencies to prove that she is employable as a blind
social worker.
Now, I do not quite understand what rehab is asking her to do when they can
just visit her home and see that she has raised five healthy children as a
single mother.

Hello my name is Dave. I thought I'd post to this thread because I
myself am job hunting as well. I am from Arkansas and have never worked
before. I had a job at the lighthouse for the blind out here but the job
was too hard physically. One of the problems I'm havning is that division
services for the blind won't help me with anything because I have bipolar.
I live in a residential facility and the councilor basically thinks that I'm
not stable enough to work. I believe I am and my therapist at my program
that I gto during the day thinks the same as well. Basically because I live
in a facility and don't live on my own division services won't help me with
anything so. I don't know if any of you have ever had problems like that
but some times its really really hard dealing with vocational
rehab.-----Original Message-----

It is unfortunate how people act and react sometimes. Soon, you will find an
employer that will base his or her decision solely upon skill. That is the
way it should be anyways but your right it isn't always.
