[nabs-l] advocating with rehab

Hi all,

I have requested that vr purchase some items and also to provide me some services. This is mainly computer training in the office suite so I can learn about excel and powerpoint. Well, they did not give me enough training; we just get started, and then its over; I’m talking a handful of lessons only. I think having several like 7 or 8 would be more reasonable.

I feel like I’ve hit a brick wall with them. I also think they should provide guidance in job support such as job search strategies, helping you find employees to job shadow, conduct informational interviews, help you job search since as you know with all those forms and boxes it can be jaws unfriendly, and help with mock interviews.

I’m having a meeting with them. My counselor’s supervisor is there to so called discuss my issues. So any tips? How do I advocate? I’m already printing out my counselor’s emails and my own. This indicates I wrote to her and she failed to respond at all or in a timely manner.

I’m also bringing a list of questions and concerns to refer to. I will be nervous and likely intimidated and I feel having notes will aid me in staying on track and saying what I need to. I’m also reading over the policy before I go. What else can I do, if anything?

Thanks.
Ashley
