This is something I don't get. I don't think Beth needs a Mac, and I 
honestly think a lot of her problems are problems she's creating for 
herself. Maybe not intentionally, but "I can't do x because of y," sort 
of things.

I also don't really agree with the "We need to do things without 
computers." If computers fail, we'll have way worse issues than how to 
finish a college paper. Just because Dr. Maurer may have had to chissle 
his papers on a slate doesn't mean we do now. Learn how to use the 
resources available and learn how to use them well.
