[nabs-l] NFB Online Streaming Problems

hi,
I tried several times, and never got a connection at all.
Windows media player says it cannot play the file type.
Therefore, my thinking is that the file stream is not compatible with
windows media player and real player.

I think it’s the device and media player we use. Others reported it works
fine with winamp and ios devices.

As for last year, it was decent quality for many parts. The worst was the
first day, but after that, I don't recall having much issues. I heard
several speeches with no hick ups in connection.

As for the nabs stream yesterday, I heard half of it, the other part I was
eating and other things.
The stream was constant, no misconnections once I began. The quality IMO was
medium, I mean not the worst but not the best I've heard. Yes, I did hear
background noise such as the recording person touching the laptop and people
in the background talking and him clearing his throat.
However, there was no connection issues so the constant stream was what I
wanted.
I commend David for his efforts. Remember he is a volunteer doing this and
found a spot close to the speakers to capture it for us.
I'm sure he did the best he could.

I'd like to hear convention live. If I cannot, I know we will see recordings
online later.

Some of you reported winamp is fine. I thought that service was dead.
Please explain what winamp is and how I might use that.

Thanks.
Ashley

Hello Tyler,

I agree with you. However, on my end at least, I was never really able to
get a constant connection, and I was constantly trying to reconnect in with
the hopes that I could reconnect to the online stream. However, since I am
able to connect at times, I believe the problem is on their side of things
and not mine. I know someone made a comment about the access to the internet
service in the hotel, but I do not understand why this would be an issue
this year when it was not an issue last year. It would seem to me that if we
are in the same hotel as last year that we should be able to get the same
quality online stream we received last year. I honestly do not know what the
problem might be.

Warm regards,
Elizabeth

The stream does keep going up and down, which is quite sad. The recording
was much much better than the NABS recording last night though. Whoever was
doing it kept clearing his throat and you could hear him touching the
laptop, where the internal mic would pick it up. If they could keep the
stream up it sounded pretty good, at least for the 5 minutes of scholarship
speeches I was able to tune in for.
