I wouldd do it, except I've got stuff going on. I'd be happy to
give a list of names privately to someone higher up.

Subject: Re: [nabs-l] Revisiting idea of division for students
with multipledisabilities
Hello Angelina and all,
While I may not be a person who would necessarily identify with
this demographic, I am certainly interested in working with
interested individuals in order to help organize such a presence
in our movement.
Because I don't want to take the lead in organizing (nor should
I), I would encourage someone who is very interested in seeing a
group/division organized, and is willing to take on the
responsibility/work that goes into spearheading the effort to
gather names of individuals who might be interested.
I suspect that you might be the person who gets the ball rolling
here, as you seem to be really interested and would almost seem
to be the person most likely to be the most invested. I think
that you might informally reach out to people that you are aware
of who might have the same level of interest in organizing and
fits into the same demographic.
Then you will want to talk to our national president to see if
this type of thing might have a place in our movement. When you
talk with President Riccobono, it is important to know that he
will want to know if there are a number of people who are
like-minded in the organization of such a group or division.
Such numbers are helpful in helping him to gain an understanding
of whether or not this might serve to benefit the Federation.
Another thing to think about is just why you want to have such a
division/group. Making this known is also helpful.
Going about the process of organizing a group/division is
certainly not the most complicated thing in the world, but there
are steps that need to be taken to ensure that such an effort is
organized for the right reasons, with the right amount of care
and consideration, and not gone into lightly.
Please feel free to contact me directly should you have any
questions. My email address is:dsmithnfb at gmail.com
Best of luck, and I hope that such an effort does in fact make it
off of the drawing board.

Good evening all, I hope everyone is doing well after
convention. A few months ago there was a thread about starting a
division or group of students who are interested in advocating
for people with multiple disabilities, whether they be
intellectual, physical, or mental. Is there still interest? I'm
still interested but was wondering if there are members who would
like to have a conference call to further discuss ideas. Thank
you for any responses.
