Hi All,
Thank you very much for the advice and information.  I think I'll 
call the sensei and just feel him out and maybe talk to him a 
bit, I don't want him to make assumptions about my abilities so I 
think that might be the best route for me.  If he wants to meet 
in person I'll let him know that I'm willing to do that as well 
(to show him what I can do).  I'll be sure to relay the tips you 
all have given here and if more information is needed I'll email 
off list.
