This is not true, I believe that the Apex records only as wav.

Recording things on the Victor Stream, even compared to an 
iPhone, because of the really easy bookmark/highlight bookmark 
options.  If you're going to be doing serious recording, I 
probably suggest you go that route if it's viable for you.
