[nabs-l] Questions concerning study abroad

Hi Kayla,
I think this depends on what kind of grad school you're planning
on attending. The general rule of thumb is that you should never
pay to get a Ph.D., good programs will wave tuition and probably
give you a stipend as well. SO if that's the case, then you
shouldn't have to worry about saving scholarship money, though of
course if you want to go to a master's program or get a J.D. or
M.D. things are different. It also might be worth your while to
wait and do your semester abroad after you're in grad school--I
know a lot of programs have funding available for their students
to do that sort of thing.
Hope this helps,
Karl

Subject: [nabs-l] Questions concerning study abroad
Hi NABS, hope everyone is having a great semester. I know some
of you
on the list have had the opportunity to study abroad. Iâve had
it on
my bucket list for quite a while, but Iâve heard it can be
pretty
expensive. I was just wondering if you know of any resources or
tips
that I should consider before assuming that I canât afford it
and just
throw the idea out? I know that there are of course lots of
scholarships, but Iâm planning to go to graduate school after
earning
my BA, and feel like I should save all of the scholarships that I
might be eligible for and use them for grad school as opposed to
a
summer or semester abroad. Iâd appreciate any suggestions and
advice
anyone who has studied abroad can offer.
Thanks, Kayla
