[nabs-l] Choosing a Career?

Hi Leye,

I chose my career path based on my interests and my skills. I really like to work with children, so I figured I wanted to be in some sort of childcare or maybe education. I also found that I really liked speaking in front of people or working with other people, which led me to understand that working in the education system would be a good path for me. Then I factored in the skills that I have – assistive Technology, self advocacy skills, ability to work with others in groups or one-on-one, etc. and decided that I wanted to become a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments. I've been thinking about this for several years of course and have come up with many different ways to achieve that goal, through different majors in my college and extracurricular activities that I participate in, but that's essentially how I chose my career path in a not shell.
