Hello,
There is a feature on the iPhone called Braille Screen Input. To access it, VoiceOver must be active. Follow these instructions to enable Braille Screen Input:
1. Go to Settings > General > Accessibility > VoiceOver > Rotor.
2. Make sure that Braille Screen input is selected; it should be near the bottom of the long list of possible rotor options.
3. To test, go into a notetaking app of your choice (i.e Notes, AccessNote, Pages, etcetera).
4. Navigate to and activate a text field.
5. Cycle through your rotor options by rotating two fingers clockwise, until you hear "braille screen input".
6. Now, turn your phone so that the home button is on the right and the screen is facing away from you. To calibrate your new braille keyboard, quickly tap three fingers on the right side of the screen, then three on the left.
7. Now you have a braille keyboard on your phone screen; dots 1, 2, and 3 are on the left, dots 4, 5, and 6 are on the right.
Here are some useful commands:
1. To cycle between contracted and uncontracted braille, swipe right with three fingers. The default mode is uncontracted (which I personally prefer, since it offers character-by-character feedback as I type).
2. To lock or unlock the orientation of your keyboard, swipe down with three fingers.
3. To delete the previous character, swipe left with one finger. To delete a word, swipe left with two fingers.
5. To add a space, swipe right with one finger. To add a new line, swipe right with two fingers.
I hope that helped! I used braille screen input to type this email, so I know it works very well.

Have a great day!
Kelly
