Personally, I like Wiktionary (http://en.wiktionary.org for definitions in
English, http://es.wiktionary.org for definitions in Spanish).

If you want to see a definition in English (Wiktionary has words in tons of
different languages), an easy shortcut is http://enwp.org/wikt:word

For example, to see the definition for the word “palabra”, you’d go to
http://enwp.org/wikt:palabra

If you’re going to study Spanish at a higher level (about a B2 on the CEFR
scale), El Diccionario de la lengua española (DLE) is accessible. Yes, it’s
in Spanish, but it’s from La RAE (the Spanish language academy). Some of the
definitions are wordy, but they’re basically Authoritative (and at the B2
level you should be able to understand at least the gist of what they say):
http://dle.rae.es
