[nabs-l] writing checks

Hi,
Being of the older generation, my husband and I came out of an era where
checks were the only way to go. I got my first "Master Charge" when I was
first teaching school in the 70s. Back then, blind people, at least all
that I knew, had learned to type out their checks on a typewriter, or use a
check writing guide. I still carry a check writing guide in my wallet, but
rarely use it. When raising our daughters, though, I used it quite a lot
back in the 80s, started tapering off in the 90s.
My husband and I still use our typewriter for writing notes in greeting
cards, typing envelopes, on sticky-notes for various reasons, notes for the
postal carrier or yard person, a neighbor, and for those odd jobs that take
anything but an 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of paper. We would never get rid of our
typewriter, and my husband has kept it in top working condition.
Now, the only time we write a check is to send our daughters a birthday
check in a card, or for Christmas, and once in a while, to a vendor who does
not take a credit card.
I just ordered a set of checks to have them but will probably be a few years
before those are all gone again.
Thanks.
Judy

I use so few checks anymore. However, you can also use a program such as
quicken. Checks for this purpose are a little more expensive. However,
being able to write them myself was worth the difference to me. The aph
also use to have a checkwriting program. I don't know if they still do or
not.

Yes, the independence market does sell check writing guys. I bought one last
February.
Sometimes, the apartment complex has an app where you can pay your rent on
there. Mine currently does and it is accessible. So if yours does, hopefully
it is.
I also agree with the other information that has been provided to you on
this thread.

option is that most banks will let you send checks through your online
banking site. It's different than wiring money. You put in the information
and they print and mail a physical check. You'll just need to make sure to
send the check with enough time for it to arrive by the due date. The last
two apartment buildings I lived in had an online portal where I could pay
electronically. If you live in a small building complex, that may not be the
case.
