Dear Vee:

Let me be the first to say that, while I am sorry to learn of your withdrawal, I commend you for the self-awareness and strength of character which have led you to this decision. It has often been said that it takes a special kind of character to be a good leader—character which is not found everywhere. I believe this is true. I also believe, however, that it takes an even more special kind of character to recognize that you are not yet ready for a position you really want and choose to withdraw from the race for that position. I hope that you will take this opportunity to learn and grow, and I hope that your Federation family will rally around you as you do so.

Let me also add that I echo your sentiments about Michael. He is an exceptional leader who believes strongly in the Federation and in our members. He will make a great First Vice President, and I pledge to support him in any way I can.

Yours for the Federation,

Chris Nusbaum

Do to some personal issues, I have decided to withdraw from all NABS election races for this summer, and I will decline any nominations made from the floor at the annual seminar and business meeting. I recognize I am not ready for this leadership role; and encourage each of you to fully support Michael Ausbun for the position of NABS 1st vice President this summer. Michael is exceptionally qualified; and will represent the National Association of Blind Students incredibly well. He has been a role model to me, and so many of you. I am excited to see what great things NABS will do in the upcoming year. I look forward to seeing all of you at convention in a few weeks and working with you all to continue building the National Federation of the Blind!
