[NABS-L] Please read if you haven't yet updated to iOs 13

Perhaps we can let people use what works for them without
insisting that everyone needs to use something or no one should
use that thing?

I'm a bit baffled by this email. I can't understand parts of it,
but the
concerning issue for me here is that you're pushing KNFB reader.
No one
should be using it; it's fallen behind, and there are many many
better
alternatives. Just because we push a program and an app in an
organization shouldn't mean that people are stuck using it if it
doesn't
compete with other applications.

As a blind person, I have many tools in my independence toolbox,
many of
which are on my phone; Voicedream scanner, Seeing AI, etc. I will
use
whatever works best for me to allow me to be productive and work
well,
and being beholden to a single app which has fallen far behind in
this
space because an organization which I belong to pushes it is not
my idea
of productive nor independent.

Hi, have you tried using Knfbreader? That’s what you should be
using!
I know it’s great and wonderful and supposedly cold or use
upstate one
else uses but we have worked tirelessly in this organization to
try
and and make it work for all of us and the blind as community at
large. I found this application to be outstanding. Just a
suggestion.

If your initial version of wire was 13 some problems, from what
I
tested obviously issues are actually not that large. Also baron
mind
that the operating system world get and update on Tuesday. So if
you
can get through Monday with some of these work arounds, whenever
you
get a free moment, more like about 20 minutes to half an hour or
so,
you can update your phone and hopefully things will be
substantially
better. That’s all I can say at this time.

 Sincerely Maurice Mines.
Check anyone wish to ask me questions off List, there are two

 Hi All,
I hope you have had a great start to the school year.
I updated to iOS 13 from iOS 12 on my iPhone 8. I'm experiencing
some
VoiceOver issues which, although I can mostly work around them,
would
have made me reconsider updating, so I would highly recommend,
for
these of you who haven't yet updated, not to do so.
First, you can no longer read PDF files on the Apple Books app.
I
used to love doing this because it allowed me to navigate files
easily, search for page numbers, and only show one page at a
time.
The phone will just freeze at the text. (Note that books from
the
Apple store will still work). I'm fortunate to have a
Braillenote
which will allow me to access the relatively large textbook I
need,
but I would still, in hindsight, not have updated yet.
The second thing (although this is much more minor) is that you
can't
log in to Amazon any longer with the iPhone. The password field
goes
blank after you type it in, so that the only two ways to log in
would
be with a computer or with sighted assistance.
I just thought I'd let you all know.
 Vejas
