[NABS-L] Survey and Discussion Board Question

I use Firefox for Blackboard which seems to work the best for discussion boards. I have NO problems with the discussion boards via that route. I don't have any ideas on surveys as I haven't encountered any of that for my class right now. Don't use Google Chrome, that's where the trouble I ran with going into forms mode in the discussion board. Firefox seems to work the best -- knock on wood! Since I currently only doing an English course, all my responses (as per my schools' recommendation) are done in Word first then I copy/paste it. Again, try to download Firefox and see if that works better. I have three different browsers installed on my laptop just in case of those times I encounter a web site I can't get to read right, I'll try a different browser to see how JAWS behaves in there....

Discussion board layout is kinda weird, and it isn't a JAWS issue, it is a blackboard layout issue and is out of our control. Even my instructor has us in groups and each person's response is under the group name, and the responses, there is NO way you can collapse to skip to the next set of text... it is a bit of a convoluted system/format.

Hope that tip helps!

Jen

Hi,
How do I make sure I'm in the edit box and not to the side?
Thank You

Both the Surveys and the Discussion Board Posts have edit fields where I can type, but Jaws is not letting me stay in the box. When I'm getting ready to type in the answer, I hit the backspace key to make sure that I'm in the edit field. Instad, it reads a letter B for the Bold button. I have also tryed to hit the tab key, the escape, or the letter E, thinking that would help me stay on the edit box, but that doesn't work. This happens both in the Discussion Board Post and in surveys. So far, what's worked best is to attach word documents of my responses. I know that students prefer reading the posts directly instead of opening separate documents. What is a way to fix this? What commands can I use to get away from so many formatting options?
