With the 2022 Holman Prize application acceptance period in full swing, LightHouse’s Holman Prize team is busy spreading the word to blind communities and organizations all over the world. Each year we receive submissions from blind and low vision individuals far and wide with big ideas, and while the people, places, and ideas may vary, there is something all Holman Prize applicants have in common—Blind Ambition.

A couple weeks ago, Holman team member Lee Kumutat had the pleasure of speaking with the presenter of the Vision Australia podcast<https://omny.fm/shows/talking-vision-vision-australia-radio/talking-vision-611-week-beginning-31st-of-january>, Stella Glorie. The two discussed the application process, what the judges are looking for, and the many accomplishments of previous years’ Holman Prizewinners.

The 2022 application submission period ends on March 20. If you are interested in applying, we encourage you to listen to the Holman Prize Interview episode<https://omny.fm/shows/interview-highlights/talking-vision-holman-prize-open-for-submissions> of Vision Australia’s podcast. You can also visit the Holman Prize website<https://holman.lighthouse-sf.org/> or email any questions you may have to holman at lighthouse-sf.org<mailto:holman at lighthouse-sf.org>.

We are looking for three new people to carry out their ambitions of breaking barriers, pushing boundaries, and challenging perceptions of what it means to be blind or have low vision. Perhaps one of those three people will be you!

If you need some inspiration, check out the 2020<https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLBgTkRMP5uazSoVgtaYI6k0WsKJPyokD5> and 2021 finalists<https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLBgTkRMP5uaxt0XCtSRk5XuLelAmNtRAy>' pitch videos on YouTube. You have until March 20 to submit your application.
