Attention all blind students, interested in science, technology,
engineering, and mathematics! The Science and Engineering Division of the
National Federation of the Blind and the National Association of Blind
Students are teaming up to present a joint Zoom conference on Sunday,
February 26, 2023, from 8 PM EST through 9 PM EST.
This conference will feature inspiring talks from successful blind
professionals and graduate students who have excelled in STEM fields. The
conference will cover various topics of interest for blind students in
middle school, high school, college and graduate school, as well as
professionals.
The scheduled speakers include Ken Perry, a blind senior software and
hardware engineer who will discuss his experience of producing hardware as
a blind engineer, Annemiek van Leendert, who will give a presentation on
her PhD research on support for reading mathematical expressions in
Braille, and Diego Vicioso, who will talk about getting through STEM
without Braille.
This event is an excellent opportunity to learn from accomplished blind
STEM professionals and students and gain valuable insights into how to
succeed in these fields with visual impairments. Join us on Zoom using the
standard NABS Zoom link, and feel free to contact Louis Maher if you have
any questions. We look forward to seeing you on February 26!
