[NABS-L] Dealing with math in college

Hello, everyone.

I would love to get some thoughts, or suggestions, regarding dealing
with math in college.

Has anyone here faced math struggles, within the last five years, or so?

How did your college work with you, to address any struggles, or issues
you may have had, when it came to your math classes? Or, to getting the
assignments done?

Down the road I will need to take a college math class. If I stick with
my major I am in at the moment, then I will need to take college
algebra. Eventually, I will need to take a statistics course.

However, math has always been a struggle for me. I can do basic math
pretty well. But beyond that it is sort of like a foreign language for
me. I would like to avoid taking math, if at all possible.

However, I do not think this is possible.

I did ask my rehab counselor about this. As well as my advisor. I was
just more curious than anything else. But they both said that this could
not be done, and that I would have to at least take a basic math class.

Would anyone happen to know if this is correct?

Or, are there courses that could possibly be substituted?

Or, am I just wishful thinking?

I still need to take the math placement test to see where I might even
need to start out at.

However, the type of test they can get, uses a different type of Braille
than I am familiar with. So, before I can attempt to take the test, I
need to try and learn the different type of Braille. Sorry, I can't
think of what it is called, at the moment.

Any thoughts, or advice is much appreciated. I want to get a handle on
this if I can, and be able to move forward with the best results.

Thank you,

Terri
