Hi marion and all,

great suggestion marion, but i bet im not the only service/guide dog user
who lives alone and could not possabley take and be in a photo with dog! lol

you know what i mean? i live with a house full of dogs
(no thumbs to hold camera for me and service dog's pix op)
and would never get any pictures if i had to wait for someone else to take them.

one the many things i like about posting to this list and reading you all's posts is i am begining
to take baby steps out of my isolation that my disability set off 14 years ago.

it is still very hard for me to go out and interact with people. my disability was the result of voilence at the hand of someone i trusted and loved, and the only way i was able to cope was to move far away and keep to myself.
(maybe some of you know with sudden change in ability comes depression and fear and all kinds of psychological set backs)...for me to ask someone to photograph me with my service dog would be miraculous to say the least (it aint happening any time soon folks, much as i wish).

so, all of you wonderful brave and wise folks even though are abilities and assests are much different, we are all embodied with similar needs and all of us have very brave spirits-
not everyone could go on living and trying to enjoy life (sometimes fighting to)
the way I know i do at times, and im sure you all fight thru stuff too...
I hear it here on this list. I think it is in our climbing up
that we give to each other,
cause when one achieves inner peace in spite of the
imperfections of our bodies and skills,
then we are all boosted up to a higher place.

I know you all have blessed me to tears at times, like when i read michaels website for instance...
that stuff is good deep healing hurting tears, my life is richer because of you all.

in respect
bunny

Doing so helps us show the public the many ways we interact with our dogs, both at work and at play! This helps to "normalize" blindness, helping us overcome the many stereotypes and misconceptions we face. the only recommendation I would make is that the pictures should include the handler, since we are the National Association of Guide Dog Users and the emphasis should be on the "Users"!If you would like to submit pictures, please send them to our Webmaster, Tami Kinney, attamara.8024 at comcast.net Fraternally yours,Marion Gwizdala, PresidentNational Association of Guide dog UsersNational Federation of the Blind
