Also the martingale on the harness seems to keep it from sliding  
around so much on the dog.  I realize that a well-fitted harness  
shouldn't do it, but I find it happens even less with the martingale.   
and I agree with you Buddy, the martingale does give more information  
about the dog's movements.

My recently retired border collie, Gracy managed to get out of the  
harness and I didn't know.  We were at the office and my friend had  
pulled to the curb in her car so I just had her leash guide out to  
it.  When I got home, I realized that Gracy had squeezed out of her  
harness with martingale and her service cape.

Yes, she was very agile!!!
