It sounds like you would be a good candidate for a guide dog. The only thing 
I worry about you using what vision you still have and not relying on the 
dog to do it's job. I had some residual vision when I went for my training 
and I was doing this very thing not trusting the dog entirely. So the 
trainer blindfolded me and I worked the dog allot better and it worked out 
for the best since I have lost all my vision since then. You need to use 
your hearing and the dogs eyes. I also have severe hearing loss have 
corrected some with hearing aids but still not near normal.
