Hi Dan

Like Julie, I am also training my dog from the ground up using a  
clicker and positive reinforcement.  I enjoy the active learning part  
of clicker training very much.  I love to watch my dog's mind work as  
she tries to figure out what will make the treats come.

I also live in a hot climate.  Between the months of May and October  
New Orleans is like a sauna.  My guide in training, Laveau, is a  
Doberman and does very well in the heat; better than my goldens did.   
This is one of the reasons I wanted a dog with less fur.  If it is  
above 95 degrees I either take a bus or a cab, and the only extended  
amounts of walking we do are in malls or other places  where there is  
A/C.
