Hello people!
This is just a note to let everyone know that I really do read *ALL* the messages on this list. There are several messages from the recent past that are teetering on the edge of politeness.
Please remember that it is no one's place to decide what is best for another person. You can offer your own experiences and thoughts. However telling another person what they should or should not do is inappropriate. Further messages of this type are going to result in removal from the list.
Here are the list rules for your perusal:
NAGDU list topics-
*the main focus of the list is guide dogs. This can include training, care, access issues, programs, equipment and anything else directly related to guide dogs
*general blindness issues are also okay to talk about on the list in small quantities. If there is another more appropriate NFBnet list to post your question to, please do that.
*a minimal amount of discussion of other types of service animals is okay from time to time. this might include guide horses or service dogs for other types of disabilities.
*NFB announcements. From time to time there will be announcements about various things going on within the National Federation of the Blind. These may or may not be directly related to guide dogs, but will always be related to blindness issues. NAGDU is a division of the NFB. NAGDU members are NFB members. It is important that we are aware of the latest happenings within the NFB.
NAGDU posting etiquette
*be respectful of others, this means no flaming, no preaching, no demanding or attempts to run someone else's affairs
*trim your posts. this means to delete the miles of previous posts that you are replying to, leaving only the bits you are actually addressing in your message
*sign your name or a nickname. It is good manners to let people know who we are talking to.
*if you are forwarding a message, rethink it, if you still think you want to send it, think about it for another minute. If you still think it appropriate for this list please remove all the header information. You know all the previous subject lines, email addresses and dates, we don't need all that stuff.
*change the subject line to reflect the actual topic of your message
And as always you can always contact me with any questions or concerns,
jlcrane at alltel.net
Thanks much!
