Just to double check, has he been in for a vet visit lately? My friend's
dog was playing sit-on-the-job, but it turned out that the dog had an
injured shoulder that was hurting her.

Subject: [nagdu] My Guide Dog is Officially Retired

Hello all,
While at this great NFB Convention--this was my first one, but not my
last--I signed the paper to officially retired my guide, Rusty. It's really,
really hot out here with temperatures at 108 and above. I am on the buses a
lot more than I used to be, since our car is totaled. Rusty is a 6-year-old
Chocolate lab. He has been sitting down more and more when we're out on my
way home from work. We, that's Leader Dogs and I, both agree that it was
probably time to let him be a pet.

I'm not sure what the next steps are. Seeing all those well-behaved doggies
and working with one while Leader videoed me definitely makes me want
another one. I know that I will fill out an application for Guide Dogs of
the Desert, or the Seeing Eye, or Guide Dogs for the Blind. I will keep the
list updated on my progress.
