Just wanted to let everyone know that I have a new dog guide. His name is
Trice and he is a chocolate lab. At the moment things are working out pretty
well. He has barked a few times in harness (I have been home 3 weeks) one of
those times was because he was scared of an object (he was raised in a
prison and hasn't been exposed to alot of stuff) and the other times was
because a person walked in the room behind us and startled him. He does
great guide work and when he does run me into something like a tree limb it
usually takes him once or twice to figure out how to fix said error. He is a
very sensitive boy and required back scratches during work to keep him
motivated. He doesn't respond to verbal praise as well as physical.
Thankfully when I physically praise him he gets right back to work.

My time at the dog guide school where I got Trice was a challenge. Trice was
sick almost the whole time I was there. He had an ear, eye and bladder
infection along with diarrea. It took the school two weeks to do anything
about said issues even though I kept telling them. Trice still has loose
stool, but has had no accidents. It is too early to tell, but I'm seriously
wondering if something in his food is bothering him.

Even though I have had issues with this dog I think he is a keeper. The
issues I am having with him are acceptable mistakes and nothing like my
previous dog guide Myrtle.
