[nagdu] PUBLIC ACCESS ISUES

Kathy,

That's an interesting assignment for an employment placement specialist to
give out... At first glance, without knowing more of the circumstances
behind the request, I would say it is also inappropriate for her to do so in
her position. Others know more of the legal ins and outs so I will leave it
at that.

Rox stated things very well. There is no certification; thus, there is no
such thing as a certified guide dog. You don't have to prove anything. The
same is true at the work place. You don't have to prove anything. You
don't have to explain anything, except that your dog is specially trained to
mitigate your disability. So long as your dog is clean and well-behaved,
they cannot deny you access or employment.

Good luck!

Subject: [nagdu] PUBLIC ACCESS ISUES

    Hi List,

My employment placement specialist would like me to gather
information on the use of my Guide
Dog in the work-place. I know that public access is becoming an
issue due to the access of uncertified service animals. so, with
confidence during a job interview, what can I report to the
perspective employer.

I ask this because I have been recently ask to prove that Morgan
was certified to gain access into a restaurant. I've been
working with a Guide Dog since 1989, and I've only been
confronted twice in all these years.
