[nagdu] being reported to your school

Marsha,
Since there's no school to report me to, people report me to my roommate.
/lol/ He will then discuss whatever it is with me.
The latest? I am not safe with Mitzi because she does not, apparently, sit
immediately when I ask her to... Or something like that. I'm a bit
confused, because I almost never ask her to sit, especially in harness. But
I guess her 'sit" is altogether unsatisfactory and so I am in deadly danger
going anywhere with her... Seems to me there was something else someone
talked to him about a few monts back that was really ridiculous, only now I
can't even remember what it was.
Often, I get the impression that people have concerns because Mitzi doesn't
obey him, or in some instances, them. /smile/ I always reward her for
this, since people will insist on tellinger what to do and where to go. I
am always so proud of her for not obeying them! /grin/
So I guess you never know how people are going to interpret our interactions
with our dogs. /smile/
As for neglect or abuse... I tend to agree with those who say it should be
up to local authorities. If I were to witness such and thing, often enough
to know that it was a pattern, I would probably also want to inform the
school. But it is animal control that has the wherewithal to investigate
reports of neglect and abuse.

This is a very very interesting discussion. I have a SE pup, and I have even
been reported to SE. And no I do not abuse my pup, never have, never could,
never would. The person who reported me, had never had anything to do with
guides, nor did have a guide. He perceived to be what I was doing was wrong.
It was completely stupid, and the school told him so.
So what I am saying, even those handlers who are good handlers get reported.
That does not mean I should not have a dog, or that my school should come
and take my dog away. I like that I have ownership of my pup.
Its always going to be sticky, because what one person see as right, another
will see as wrong. So I urge all, to really, consider what they consider
abuse before reporting anyone.

Yes people can lie on reports, but without ownership the school the dog
is from can coem in at any point to take the dog back. for example
(true but without names0 I know someone who has been reported multiple
times to his guide dog school (one of those times b eing me) for abusing
his dog. Again he may be abusive he may just bee seen wrong but the
school cant do much about it because they gave him ownership. Maybe it
would help maybe it wouldn't but these are just my thoughts.
