[nagdu] Tips For Slowing Down?

Jess,

Sometimes, but not always, if my dog is pulling and walking too fast for the
situation, I stop, and have her sit for a bit...a sort of time out. I may
talk quietly to her in a calm voice. Then I give the forwar command in a
pleasant, but not excited happy voice that can really get some dogs into
high gear. As someone else suggested, holding the leash in your right hand
and keeping it taut may slow her down. These things work with some dogs,
sometimes. It's not easy to get a fast dog to slow down. I don't remember
how old you said your dog is, but time is often your ally. I had a dog who
pulled like crazy for the first few months I had her, but I finally
convinced her that we were going to go at my pace, not hers. That took a
year or so, but she finally got it. HTH

Hello
No he does not. When I push and pull on the harness it does nothing. Nothing
I do works. I can correct him to that does not work. He just walks extremely
fast to where at times we sort of graze people or people have to jump quick
to move out of his way.
