Lol.  I know how that goes.  Ever see a really aggressive Golden Retriever?
Well, I ended up with one for my first dog.  My current dog is a yellow lab,
and I haven't quite gotten her in the right mind set yet about a few things.

Not to make blanket statements here, but many shepherds like a
challenge. Perhaps being on the road a lot would provide enough
stimulation and challenges for a shepherd to make it a good fit for
you. Then again, perhaps not. When I was in training, the state of the
German Shepherd was brought up several times and several trainers
commented that today's shepherds are softer than ones from prior
times.
