Rox,

Yeah, my independent poodle guide has the same approach to follow. She
would prefer to step out and take the lead, though! She adores find! So
when we're shopping with DD, spending a lot of time on follow, I will take
breaks to let her take me around the aisles and crowds, then find him again.
/smile/ When we're done, she gets to find the door! She is very clever
about finding routes, taking me around obstacles, judging if spaces are too
narrow, etc., so I pretty much just have to go along with her.

So when I preactice with the cane while she's at the groomers, I'm mostly
working on remember how to find theings for myself. /lol/ She has me way
too spoiled.

Mark,

My dog is not from TSE but she will follow if I ask her to. Well I
should qualify this; she will follow if it is safe, in her opinion, to
do so. She's an independent Doberman and the follow cue was actually
one of the hardest things for her to learn.

I've used a GPS with my dog and it was pretty easy. I think that the
Guide dog Foundation and Leader Dogs both teach the GPS to their
grads. I'm not positive, though.
