I also wasn't particular about breed so much.  I looked only at  
bitches, however.  The Doberman was on my "shortlist" of breeds I was  
strongly considering, but not at the top of that list.  I really  
wanted a Dalmatian but like Julie said; I could spend lots of time  
looking for the perfect Dal or I could find a great dog and just  
accept whatever breed it was.  I really did want a short-haired dog  
because as much as I adore Goldens; they don't seem to do so well here  
in the swamp.  Laveau is everything I wanted in a dog and more.  I'd  
like another Doberman next time but some how I doubt I'll get one  
unless I can plan her retirement with enough time to search for a long  
time.
